Looking for jobs.....

With the recent global crisis, the fresh graduates now face the biggest problem ever. Big companies are closing or relieving employees, even government agencies are experiencing lay-offs clearly showing that those who have jobs right now are not in a safe or stable position. They can be greatly affected by sudden changes or loss in profit whether by a local company or a multinational one. Even OFWs or overseas contract workers are coming home with empty pockets except what they have saved over years of working in another country.

In this case, you wonder where the fresh graduates will apply jobs. With no jobs available locally, where do they go? They will then try to look for jobs abroad but then looking for a job and getting one are two different things. Jobs may be available but getting it would be a long process which would also need for you to invest money on. Then that’s where the Catch-22 starts, you need money to get the job which can give you the money you need. Unfortunately, the money you need to spend on looking for the job is an additional expense which can be hard on your pocket or a make a dent on your savings.

Still, jobs should be made available to them and thus I will be featuring several job openings here in my blog. Reminders For My Teenage Son

The other day I had a discussion with my 13 year old son about his blatant disregard for my instructions and the PDRRMC Advisory 2:  “Even in the absence of signals from Pagasa and in view of emerging consensus that the rains are likely further accelerate, for the safety and health of our community, we hereby order the EARLY DISMISSAL OF CLASSES in Kinder, Elementary and Highschool, private and public, in the entire province of Albay. School administrators and teachers should advise their students to no longer report in the afternoon. Parents are advised to fetch their children from school. This is an early dismissal, not a suspension, thus classes automatically resume tomorrow without need for lifting. I came home from the office earlier than he did and so I talked to him. He was silent and at first I thought he understood why I was very mad about it. But then when he replied to me with three suggestions including transferring him to the school in our town so he would not be able ...

KONY 2012: Make Kony Famous

KONY 2012 from INVISIBLE CHILDREN on Vimeo . Make Joseph Kony famous.  This is the new call to action by the non-profit organization Invisible Children whose mission is to educate people about the ongoing war in Central Uganda, who wants to make the world's worst living criminal famous so that people will know and care enough to bombard policymakers in doing something to stop Kony and his army. Over the past 26 years, Kony has abducted more than 30,000 children. He and his army rapes the girls and turns them into sex slaves. He arms the little boys with guns and forces them to become foot soldiers and do horrible things including killing their own parents. They mutilate people's face by cutting off their nose, ears and lips. As a mother I can only imagine the horror their parents are experiencing.  So I am making a stand and I am counting on you to help me. Let us all work towards a better tomorrow for our children. By showing the world who Joseph Kony is and what dia...

A Mom's Thoughts on Sports and a Black-eye

For the first time in 13 years I came home to see my son sporting a shiner. And as much as I wanted to fuss, I couldn't...I wouldn't dare insult my son. Just waited for him to show it to me and tell me what really happened. Oh, I so wanted to rush him, to ask him to give me a blow-by-blow account but I kept my lips sealed. I wanted to kiss it and make it well, but I stopped at just a touch at his cheek while asking if it hurts. His teammate was telling him to make excuses for what happened and he answered with: Why should I? My mom knows I play soccer and she has always said this is part and parcel of the sport .  I remember seeing Fernando Torres of Liverpool once sporting a black-eye, too.  Well yes so I always say that…he plays basketball and soccer, which are both contact team sports albeit limited-contact - meaning there are rules that specifically prevent intentional or unintentional contact between players and penalties can be incurred when...
